Esther Zhang (she/her) is an interdisciplinary technologist and designer working at the intersection of engineering, interaction design, and human-centered experiences. Her work focuses on translating complex technologies into thoughtful, accessible, and emotionally resonant interactions—particularly in contexts involving health, education, and care.

With formal training in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Washington and a master’s degree from NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP), Esther brings a systems-level perspective to creative problem-solving. Her background in digital signal and image processing, physical computing, and multimedia interaction design enables her to bridge technical rigor with experiential design.

Across academic research and industry settings, Esther has collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to develop interactive systems and programs that balance feasibility, usability, and impact. She is especially interested in roles that sit between engineering, design, and stakeholders—where clear communication, structure, and empathy are essential to turning ideas into real-world outcomes.

Outside of her professional practice, Esther enjoys analog photography and hands-on fabrication, which continue to inform her sensitivity to materiality, process, and storytelling.
